The History of Eden's Door

Host, Jennifer

Your globally traveled host loves nature, exercise, the arts, culture and humanity and has used technology to improve education in Liberia and Sierra Leone, West Africa. She expresses herself in her surroundings, her warm and open spirit and in her Guidebook, “Jennifer’s Must-See Guide to Tobago”.

A former university professor and corporate executive at the Procter & Gamble Company, USA, Jennifer has been immersed in her mission since 2012, to convert Eden’s Door, a former wilderness into an urban nature sanctuary just two miles from the city.

History: A historic site for the Bailey family, Jennifer’s grandfather, John Gibbs Bailey, purchased the land about 100 years ago. In the past, tenant farmers made a livelihood in agriculture using the valley and hilltop and John Gibbs Bailey ran a general store here until his death in 1938.

The Trails: Jennifer designed and led the creation of the two fitness trails at Eden’s Door to make the land accessible so nature lovers may breathe the oxygen-filled air while engaged in superb physical exercise.
